Fashion Scoop: River Island's new Shoe Collaboration, American Eagle Gets Sued By Artist

River Island's New Shoes

I am so excited by River Island's next colllabo!! The high-street brand has teamed up with blogger Sandra Hagelstam - of 5 Inch and Up  fame - to create acapsule collection of shoes!  The collection will comprise six styles in varying textures - think suede, moc-croc and ponyskin - and launches in November. And, in case you need a masterclass in walking tall in your heels, River Island will be hosting a video with Hagelstam showing you how to coincide with the collection launch.

Miami Street Artist David Anasagasti Sues American Eagle
The artist

Miami street artist David Anasagasti filed a lawsuit against American Eagle Outfitters Inc. for copyright infringement. The artist, is recognized for his signature eyeballs as a backdrop motif for his art. He alleged in the complaint, filed in a Manhattan federal court last week, that his work appeared on the teen retailer’s Web site, on billboards and in in-store displays as part of the chain’s spring marketing campaign. He charged in court papers that the unauthorized infringement is not limited to the U.S. He cited in court documents a street-facing window display at an American Eagle store in Tokyo, as well as on a wall outside its store in Medellín, Colombia. That’s in addition to a billboard advertisement on Houston Street and Broadway in Manhattan. He claimed that the chain failed to credit him or compensate him for its use of the alleged infringing works.

Mr Anasagasti is seeking actual damages, infringement-related profits and an injunction barring further use of the alleged infringed works of art.
