Fashion Scoop: Not A Single Sketch from Jimmy Choo handed in for Design!

Jimmy Choo cofounder Tamara Mellon recently penned a book, In my Shoes, about her life, career in fashion, and starting the Jimmy Choo brand. The businesswoman sat down with Jenna Bush Hager for an exclusive interview, in which she reveals that Jimmy Choo never actually designed a single pair of shoes. “The original idea was for Jimmy to design the collection, and I would run the operations of the business,” she said. “But it soon became very clear that Jimmy’s skill wasn’t in making shoes. He’s a cobbler,” adding that she got “not one” sketch from Choo during her time working with him. She actually wound up designing the shoes herself, while Choo put them together. Interesting! There are designers who can’t sketch or sew, but they still put out great products.
Hmm sounds familiar Kuwait?  (Fashionista)

Zac Posen‘s making moves and adding an eyewear option to his fast-growing brand. The designer’s signed a deal with Kenmark to produce a line of prescription frames and sunglasses for Posen’s House of Z company, consisting of the Zac Posen, ZAC Zac Posen, Z Spoke and Truly Zac Posen labels. (WWD)

Roberto Cavalli‘s adding a design director position to his flourishing fashion house, and has appointed Yvan Mispelaere to fulfill the role. Mispleare previously served as creative director at Diane Von Furstenberg, but left the label after only two years. Before then, he worked at GucciValentinoChloé,  and Louis Féraud. (WWD)
